I submit this for those who like Yuu Yuu Hakusho. It seems to stress
the comedy and fighting aspects of YHH, but like many anime sagas, a
light-hearted send-off merely sets the course into fierce and stormy
waters.
The send-off first follows a young hero with plenty of fighting spirit,
as he subdues a rival with plenty of strength and not much grey matter
to use it. The hero is Hanabishi Recca, the son of a fireworks
manufacturer. He has always been a fan of ninjutsu and proclaims himself a
ninja. Soon he becomes smitten with a girl in posession of psychic
healing powers whom he calls his "Princess."
The rival, and two more characters, eventually join Recca to protect
his Princess, each one of them with newly acquired powers. This all
comes from the instigation of a mysterious woman, Kagehoushi, who first
fights them to bring out their powers, but is in fact Recca's mother, who
sent Recca to the present from five centuries ago, Recca himself being
hier to a special ninja clan, and all this in order to fight a secret
organization...
As you might guess, the plot's a bit convoluted. There are more twists
and turns to come, which is how the whole 42-part series rolls by.
Warning: To enjoy this, you have to not mind fights and chases that
last many episodes. But at least the fights contain much in the way of
plot and character development. Those who like fights, teenagers with
wierd powers, high school fools-for-love comedies, and engaging soap
operas should see this.
